Gemini Courts

What if two basketball courts could tell one shared story about freedom, choices and the worlds we grow up in?

Gemini Courts is an art and sports project by Sagitta Creatives in Breda, in which two mirrored basketball courts were designed and created together with young people inside and outside of detention.
One court is located in the Hoge Vucht neighbourhood, while the other stands within the walls of juvenile detention centre Den Hey-Acker, turning the distance between these places into a visual dialogue about freedom, choices, belonging and the transition back into everyday life.
Guided by Sagitta Creatives, the participating youth helped shape the identity of both courts, using art and sport as a way to make their voices heard and to explore how creativity can become a profession, a future, and a way to build a meaningful life.
The entire process, from concept to completion, was captured in a documentary by Raekwunder, revealing both the hidden struggles after release and the way two vibrant courts became symbols of confidence, connection and recognition across divided worlds.
